Hundreds of newspaper executives will be gathering in Chennai, India, next month for Publish Asia, the annual high-level meeting for news publishers across Asia, to be held alongside IFRA Expo India, the region

Hundreds of newspaper executives will be gathering in Chennai, India, next month for Publish Asia, the annual high-level meeting for news publishers across Asia, to be held alongside IFRA Expo India, the region's largest international exhibition for trends and practices in the newspaper printing and publishing industry.

The combined events, to be held from 23 to 25 September at the Chennai Trade and Convention Centre, offers the region's publishing industry an opportunity to share strategies and business ideas at a time of increasing economic and competitive pressures.

Under the theme, "Creating Value in Challenging Times,"; the event will feature a CEO Conference for senior decision makers, a Production Conference focusing on cost reductions, a Circulation Conference discussing the challenges of circulation management and increasing revenue yield, and a CTO Conference for IT and Systems Managers in news publishing houses.

Highlights include:

-  A CEO conference focused on cost control, revenue generation and innovation to help newspaper companies adapt their strategies and planning to be well-positioned to emerge from the current economic crisis. Industry experts and innovative thinkers from around the world will examine topics ranging from financial analysis and publishing strategies to marketing and advertising for both print and online media.

Session topics include: the Asian media outlook; innovating in the economic downturn; increasing revenue in changing times; increasing circulation yields; audience development; optimising distribution and production; and driving the digital wave.

-  A Circulation Conference to help circulation managers stay current on the latest developments in circulation science. The conference is designed to help participants improve distribution management, circulation yields, audience development and more.

Session topics include: improving newspaper circulation management; monetising news publishers' cross media reach; managing distribution; increasing circulation yields; audience development; optimising distribution and production; and driving the digital wave.

-  A Production and Technology Conference, which will examine the latest trends in technology and modern print management, with a special focus on how publishers can improve their production efficiency and cost controls in newspaper production. Workflows, print quality, production innovations, and optimising distribution and production are among the topics to be discussed.

-  A CTO Conference on the latest technological developments. Topics include Efficient Workflow for Cost Savings, Developments in Prepress, Trends in Publishing Systems, Optimising Distribution and Production, and more.

-  Two pre-conference workshops on 22 September on transforming print journalists into multimedia journalists, and on participating in the International Newspaper Quality Colour Club.

-  The Asian Media Awards 2009, and its gala dinner on 24 September, honouring the best among newspaper and magazines in colour printing, design, information graphics, photography, special supplements, online publishing and use of cross-media for editorial and advertising offerings.
