Asian news publishers celebrate best digital content

Hong-Kong – 2019-10-30

October 30, 2019 - Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) have dominated the 10th Asian Digital Media Awards, winning more than half the 30 prizes on offer for outstanding digital content and products.

The prizes, presented by World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), recognise the new organisations which have produced the region’s best and most engaging digital content and offerings. The ten prize categories include the best websites, video, infographics, native advertising and social media content.

The winners were awarded at a ceremony in Hong Kong on Tuesday night as part of the Digital Media Asia conference. Fifteen judges, drawn from the USA and Europe, selected the Gold, Silver and Bronze category prizewinners from a total of 151 entries, from 11 countries.

The gold winners become automatically eligible for WAN-IFRA’s World Digital Media Awards, to compete with the other winners from Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America and South Asia in this unique and final international competition.

SCMP took home six of the 10 Gold Awards, sharing one with R.AGE of Star Media Group, Malaysia, while SPH won three and PT GVM Networks (Opini.id) was the winner of the award for brand marketing.
